The Paycheck Protection Program established by the CARES Act is implemented by the Small Business Administration with support from the Department of the Treasury. The effective period began March 27, 2020 through August 8, 2020. The Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits and Venues Act (Economic Aid Act) enacted on December 27, 2020, provided appropriations through May 31, 2021 or until funds are expended, for the PPP loan program. What Is This Program?

Eligible small entities, that together with their affiliates (if applicable), have 500 or fewer employeesโ€”including nonprofits, veterans organizations, tribal concerns, self-employed individuals, sole proprietorships, and independent contractorsโ€”can apply. Entities with more than 500 employees in certain industries that meet SBAโ€™s alternative size standard or SBAโ€™s size standards for those particular industries can also apply. A borrower is generally eligible for a Second Draw PPP Loan if the borrower: Previously received a First Draw PPP Loan and will or has used the full amount only for authorized uses; has no more than 300 employees; and can demonstrate at least a 25% reduction in gross receipts between comparable quarters in 2019 and 2020.
