The Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP) is a competitive grant program with the goal of reducing Wildlife Vehicle Collisions (WVCs) while improving habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. The WCPP provides funding for construction and non-construction projects. What Benefits Are Offered?
A competitive grant program authorized for $350 million total in Federal-aid contract authority funding for Federal Fiscal Years 2022 through 2026. Funding is provided for construction and non-construction projects aimed at reducing Wildlife Vehicle Collisions (WVCs) and improving habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. Projects can include engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, planning, research, and educational activities. A non-Federal matching share of at least 20% of the total project cost is generally required, with some exceptions for certain safety projects or projects providing access to Federal or Tribal land.

Other Criteria: State Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Units of local government, Regional transportation authorities, Special purpose districts or public authorities with a transportation function, Indian tribes, Federal Land Management Agencies, A group of any of the above entities
