What Is This Program?

Grants and cooperative agreements provided to improve the delivery of program benefits and services to WIC participants. Funding supports improvements and/or enhancements to State agenciesโ€™ EBT and MIS technology projects; implementation or maintenance of effective WIC breastfeeding peer counselor programs; and innovation and infrastructure projects to improve program access and the customer experience.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Provides free, healthy foods (via an eWIC card usable at WIC-approved grocery stores and farmersโ€™ markets), personalized nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health and community resources (medical, dental, mental health care, etc.) for eligible women, infants, and children.

Who Is Eligible?

Region: United States, US Territories, Federally Recognized Tribal Lands

Demographics: women who are currently pregnant, women who have been pregnant in the last 6 months (postpartum), women who are breastfeeding a baby up to 12 months old, infants, children who are younger than 5 years old, foster children who meet any of the above criteria, caregivers (moms, dads, foster parents, or others) raising eligible children

Other Criteria: must apply through a WIC agency in their local area (state, US territory, or tribal land), must meet income requirements (household income at or below WIC limits, which vary by household size and location), automatically income eligible if enrolled in Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), must receive a free, simple health check/nutrition assessment by WIC staff before enrollment
