To assist WIC State agencies, through grants and cooperative agreements, in making improvements and/or enhancements to the delivery of program benefits and services to participants. What Benefits Are Offered?
Provides free, healthy foods (via an eWIC card usable at WIC-approved grocery stores and farmersโ markets), personalized nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health and community resources (medical, dental, mental health care, etc.) for eligible women, infants, and children.
Who Is Eligible?
Region: United States, US Territories, Federally Recognized Tribal Lands
Demographics: women who are currently pregnant, women who have been pregnant in the last 6 months (postpartum), women who are breastfeeding a baby up to 12 months old, infants, children who are younger than 5 years old, foster children who meet any of the above criteria, caregivers (moms, dads, foster parents, or others) raising eligible children
Other Criteria: must apply through a WIC agency in their local area (state, US territory, or tribal land), must meet income requirements (household income at or below WIC limits, which vary by household size and location), automatically income eligible if enrolled in Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), must receive a free, simple health check/nutrition assessment by WIC staff before enrollment
