To help agricultural producers enter into value-added activities related to the processing and/or marketing of bio-based, value-added products. Generating new products, creating and expanding marketing opportunities, and increasing producer income are the goals of this program.

What Benefits Are Offered?
Provides grants to U.S. agricultural producers for value-added activities such as generating new products from raw commodities, expanding marketing opportunities, and increasing producer income. Funding supports both planning activities (e.g., feasibility studies, business and marketing plans) and working capital needs (e.g., processing, packaging, advertising, inventory, salaries). A 1:1 match (100% of the grant amount) is required, which may include cash or eligible in-kind contributions.

Demographics: beginning farmer or rancher, veteran farmer or rancher, socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher
Other Criteria: agricultural producers (including harvesters and steering committees), agricultural producer groups, farmer- or rancher-cooperatives, majority-controlled producer-based business ventures, own and produce more than 50% of the raw commodity, will retain greater revenue from the value-added product than from the raw commodity alone, active System for Award Management (SAM) registration, Level 2 eAuthentication access
