What Is This Program?

Losses due to drought are only eligible for assistance if any area within the county in which the loss occurred was rated by the U.S. Drought Monitor as having a D2 (severe drought) for eight consecutive weeks or a D3 (extreme drought) or higher level of drought intensity for any period of time during the calendar year. FSA is administering SDRP in two stages. Stage 1 assists producers who previously received a crop insurance indemnity under certain crop insurance policies or a payment through FSAโ€™s Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP). FSA is generating and mailing pre-filled Stage 1 applications to producers based on data that is already on file with FSA or USDAโ€™s Risk Management Agency (RMA). Stage 2 will provide payments for other eligible losses that were not indemnified through crop insurance or NAP. Stage 2 covers losses of eligible crops, trees, bushes, and vines for which a producer did not have crop insurance or NAP coverage, as well as losses that were insured or covered by NAP but not severe enough to trigger an indemnity.
