Species Recovery Grants are authorized under section 6 of the Endangered Species Act. Species Recovery Grants support management, research, monitoring, and/or outreach activities that have direct conservation benefits for listed species under the ESA. Recently delisted species, proposed, and candidate species are also eligible.

Competitive grants to support management, research, monitoring, and/or outreach activities with direct conservation benefits for ESA-listed, recently delisted, proposed, or candidate species within a state.
Who Is Eligible?
Industries: environmental conservation, wildlife management, research & development
Region: US states, US territories
Other Criteria: State agencies (including US territories) that have entered, or will enter within 30 days of the deadline, into an agreement with NOAA Fisheries under section 6(c) of the ESA, Projects must have direct conservation benefits for ESA-listed species, recently delisted species, proposed, or candidate species, Applicants working on endangered or threatened species must provide an ESA permit number or evidence of an ESA permit application to NOAA Fisheries, Single-state proposals require at least 25% non-Federal cost share, Multi-state proposals (two or more state natural resources agencies cooperate) require a 10% non-Federal cost share, Insular areas (Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands) are not required to provide match, Proposals must not include actions required to satisfy a permittee's Federal mitigation requirements, Grant funds cannot be used to help an entity comply with a biological opinion or other Federal regulations, Project work under joint NOAA Fisheries and U.S. FWS jurisdiction is eligible, but species under the sole jurisdiction of U.S. FWS are not eligible
