What Benefits Are Offered?
Grants to implement the National Recycling Strategy, improve post-consumer materials management and infrastructure, support local post-consumer materials management and recycling programs, and assist local waste management authorities. Activities include developing plans, comprehensive data collection, establishing/expanding infrastructure (facilities, equipment, bins), developing end-markets, reducing contamination, training, and education. The overall program is funded by $275 million from FY 2022 to 2026.

Industries: waste management, recycling, environmental services
Region: US States, US Territories, Political Subdivisions of States and Territories, Indian Tribes, Intertribal Consortia
Other Criteria: U.S. States, including Washington, D.C., U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands), Political subdivisions of states and territories (e.g., counties, cities, towns, parishes, and similar units of governments that have executive and legislative functions), Indian Tribes (as defined in 33 U.S.C. 4201 and section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. 5304), including Alaskan Native Villages and Alaska Native Corporations, and former Indian reservations in Oklahoma), Intertribal consortia, consistent with 40 CFR Section 35.504(a), Projects must aim to improve post-consumer materials management and infrastructure, support local post-consumer materials management and recycling programs, and/or assist local waste management authorities in making improvements to local waste management systems.
