What Is This Program?

The Research Facilities Act Program (RFAP) is designed to assist in the construction, alteration, acquisition, modernization, renovation, or remodeling of an agricultural research facility to enhance the institutionโ€™s long-term impact on food and agricultural research.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Funding for construction, alteration, acquisition, modernization, renovation, or remodeling of agricultural research facilities. This includes funding for buildings, sites, real estate, durable equipment, permanent equipment for research monitoring, safeguarding samples/specimens, and essential building systems like electricity, climate control, security, life safety, lighting, utilities, telecommunications, and energy management.

Other Criteria: qualifying institutions, institutions involved in agricultural research, must enhance long-term impact on food and agricultural research, proposal must expand institution's capacity for long-term impactful research, proposal must be the result of thorough strategic planning, eligible to receive funds under a capacity and infrastructure program as defined in 7 U.S.C. 6971(f)(1)(C)
