Funding for projects that support California Native American tribes in managing ancestral lands, implementing Traditional Environmental Knowledges, promoting cultural fire, improving forest health through fuels reduction, reforestation, and pest management, and enhancing wildfire safety for tribal communities. Projects can include workforce development, mapping, restoration plans, and environmental compliance.
Who Is Eligible?
Region: Ancestral homelands within California (as defined by the applying tribe)
Demographics: indigenous, California Native American Tribes
Other Criteria: Federally recognized Native American Tribes, Non-federally recognized Tribes on the California Native American Heritage Commissionโs California Tribal Consultation List, Tribally-led 501(c)(3) non-profit with documentation, Grantee must have long-term access to the land (ancestral homelands within California)
