What Is This Program?
What Benefits Are Offered?
Funding for projects that support California Native American tribes in managing ancestral lands, implementing Traditional Environmental Knowledges for wildfire resilience, and establishing wildfire safety. This includes activities like cultural and prescribed burns, fuel breaks, reforestation, forest health and restoration, workforce development, mapping, planning, and surveys. Total estimated available funding is $10,000,000. Funding is delivered via advances and reimbursements.

Industries: wildfire prevention, environmental management, forestry, cultural preservation, public safety
Region: Ancestral homelands within California
Demographics: indigenous, tribal government
Other Criteria: federally recognized Native American Tribes, non-federally recognized Tribes on the California Native American Heritage Commission’s California Tribal Consultation List, tribally-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, grantee must have long-term access to the land, projects supporting Traditional Ecological Knowledge and cultural fire
