What Is This Program?

The INFRA Grants program provides dedicated, discretionary funding for projects that address critical issues facing our nation’s highways and bridges. INFRA grants will support the Administration’s commitment to fixing our nation’s crumbling infrastructure by creating opportunities for all levels of government and the private sector to fund infrastructure, using innovative approaches to improve the necessary processes for building significant projects, and increasing accountability for the projects that are built.

Competitive grants for multimodal freight and highway projects of national or regional significance. Projects aim to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability of freight and people movement in and across rural and urban areas. Eligible project types include: highway freight, highway/bridge on NHS, freight intermodal/rail/water facilities, highway-railway grade crossings, wildlife crossings, international border crossing improvements, and marine highway corridors.

Other Criteria: State or group of States, Metropolitan planning organization serving an Urbanized Area with a population of >200,000, Unit of local government or group of local governments, Political subdivision of a State or local government, Special purpose district or public authority with a transportation function (e.g., port authority), Federal land management agency (applies jointly with a State or group of States), Tribal government or a consortium of tribal governments, Multistate corridor organization, Multistate or multijurisdictional group of eligible entities
