What Is This Program?

The purpose of the MPIRG program was to support the planning and make improvements to meat processing facilities needed for the facility to obtain a Federal Grant of Inspection under the Federal Meat Inspection Act (FMIA) or the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA). In eligible states, funds could also be used to meet compliance standards to operate as a State-inspected facility under FMIA or PPIA through the Cooperative Interstate Shipment (CIS) program.
