Conservation Loans
Department Of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency
To provide access to credit for farmers who need and want to implement conservation measures on their land but do not have the โup frontโ funds available to implement these practices. Unlike FSAโs traditional farm ownership and operating loan programs that are targeted toward smaller and less financially established farmers, eligibility requirements for the CL program are expanded to permit FSA to provide assistance to some applicants who may be large and financially strong.
Jargon-free version
Helps farmers and ranchers pay for conservation practices to protect natural resources. Loans can be used for projects like reducing soil erosion and improving water quality.

What Is This Program?
What Benefits Are Offered?
The Farm Service Agency (FSA) offers various loan types to help farmers and ranchers get the financing they need to start, expand, or maintain a family farm. These include Operating Loans (for livestock, seed, equipment, farm operating costs, family living expenses), Farm Ownership Loans (to purchase or expand a farm/ranch), Microloans (for small/beginning farmers and non-traditional/specialty operations with less paperwork), Youth Loans (for educational agricultural projects), Loan Programs for Native American Tribes (for land acquisition and agricultural development), and Emergency Loans (for disaster recovery). While not explicitly detailed for conservation, these general farm loans could potentially support conservation-related farm operations.
