CNMI Nutrition Assistance

The Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) provides family nutrition assistance to eligible residents of the CNMI. CNMI's enhanced NAP called ENAP increases the income eligibility limits, increases the allotment benefits for each of the islands, implements a new eligibility system with EBT interface capabilities and adjust resources as needed.

What Benefits Are Offered?
Provides food benefits to low-income households in the CNMI through an Electric Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. The program is funded by a federal block grant to the CNMI, which also covers administrative costs. 30% of each allotment is specifically earmarked for the purchase of local commodities, which can include food, fishing equipment, garden supplies, and livestock, to encourage self-sufficiency and local economic development.

Other Criteria: low-income households, low-income individuals and families, eligibility criteria similar to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), meet territory-specific rules established by CNMI's Department of Community and Cultural Affairs (DCCA), maximum income and benefit levels are lower than SNAP
