To provide financial assistance for research and development projects that will provide information for the living marine resources of Chesapeake Bay. In addition, assistance is provided for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Education and Training Initiative (B-WET). The B-WET Program will work with and support organizations that provide environment-based education to students, teachers, and communities throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Region: Chesapeake Bay region, U.S. (including territories)
Demographics: Proposals involving historically black colleges and universities, Hispanic serving institutions, tribal colleges and universities, and institutions that work in underserved areas are encouraged.
Other Criteria: institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, U.S. territories, state governments, local governments, Native American tribal governments, Research focused on fisheries status, trends, and ecosystem value to inform ecosystem-based management of Chesapeake Bay estuarine species and habitats., Research should address: climate change and related ecological shifts, improved habitat assessment techniques, quantification of habitat ecosystem services, or integration of species, habitat, and ecosystem information.
