What Is This Program?

YHDP was funded by Congress to implement projects that demonstrate how a comprehensive approach to serving homeless youth, age 24 and younger, can dramatically reduce homelessness. This includes a variety of approaches, eligible activities and types of projects to fortify support for underserved communities and support equitable community development for all people by reducing homelessness through strengthen Federal, State, Tribal, and community implementation of the Housing First approach to reducing the prevalence of homelessness; The demonstration has seven primary objectives: • Prevent and End Youth Homelessness. • Build national momentum. • Promote equity in the delivery and outcomes of homeless assistance. • Highlight the importance of youth leadership. • Evaluate the coordinated community approach. • Expand capacity. • Evaluate performance measures. .
