What Is This Program?

The Lifeline program helps to provide access to quality affordable broadband Internet access services and voice telephony services to low-income Americans.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Monthly discount on phone service (mobile voice, mobile broadband, fixed broadband) for eligible low-income consumers to ensure access to essential communication services like connecting to jobs, family, and emergency services. As of December 1, 2023, the voice support amount is $5.25/month and broadband support amount is $9.25/month.

Who Is Eligible?

Demographics: low-income individuals, households on Tribal lands

Revenue Range: 135% of Federal Poverty Guidelines

Other Criteria: qualifying low-income consumers, enrolled in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), enrolled in Supplemental Security Income (SSI), enrolled in Medicaid, enrolled in Federal Public Housing Assistance, enrolled in Tribal-specific programs (Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TTANF), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Head Start), enrolled in Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit Programs, available to eligible low-income consumers in every state, territory, commonwealth, and on Tribal lands
