What Benefits Are Offered?
Grants to promote and strengthen teaching, education, and curriculum development in food and agricultural sciences for insular area institutions (Resident Instruction Grants). Also supports activities to acquire or renovate facilities and relevant equipment for conducting agricultural research, particularly tropical and subtropical agriculture research (Agriculture and Food Sciences Facilities and Equipment Program). Funded projects address the national challenge of increasing the number of students entering agriculture-related STEM disciplines.
Who Is Eligible?
Industries: agriculture, food science, STEM education (agriculture-related), tropical agriculture research, subtropical agriculture research, natural resources, human sciences
Region: Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Palau, Virgin Islands of the United States
Other Criteria: colleges and universities located in an Insular Area, must conduct teaching and extension programs in at least one discipline or area of food and agricultural sciences, public or state-funded non-Land-grant institutions must submit a letter signed by the institution's Authorized Representative certifying that it meets NOFO requirements, Land-grant institutions (including those with secured land-grant status through federal legislation) are automatically eligible, public or non-profit 2-year and 4-year accredited institutions of higher education that offer certificate/degree programs in FANH sciences, individual branches of a State university system or public system of higher education that are separately accredited as degree-granting institutions are eligible, independent branch campuses (geographically apart, permanent, offer credit/degrees, autonomous with own faculty/administration/budget/hiring authority) are eligible
