Provides grant funding for projects that restore Southern California Steelhead habitat and improve a community’s ability to adapt to climate change, protect coastal/rural economies, agricultural viability, wildlife corridors, or habitat. Funding also supports development of recreational opportunities, drought tolerance, landscape resilience, and water retention. The total estimated available funding for the program is $15,927,000. Individual award amounts are dependent.

Other Criteria: Nonprofit organizations, Public Agencies, Tribal Governments, Projects must restore Southern California Steelhead habitat, Projects must be consistent with the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Steelhead Restoration and Management Plan, Projects must be consistent with the National Marine Fisheries Service’s Southern California Steelhead Recovery Plan, Highest priority for projects that remove significant barriers to steelhead migration and include other habitat restoration and associated infrastructure improvements
