What Benefits Are Offered?
Funding to create, expand, and/or improve public open space, water quality, water supply, and restore important species and habitat within the RMC's territory (eastern Los Angeles County and western Orange County). Projects may include improving public access, recreation, habitat connectivity, flood protection, and sustainable growth. The total available funding is $206,150. Funding is delivered primarily through reimbursements, with advance payments possible at the State's discretion.
Who Is Eligible?
Industries: environmental conservation, public recreation, water resource management, natural resource management
Region: eastern Los Angeles County, western Orange County, RMC's approved territory
Other Criteria: Nonprofit organizations (with 501(c)(3) designation), Public Agencies (State agencies, Federal agencies, Local public agencies including City or county, Water districts, School districts, Certified local conservation corps, Joint Powers Authority (JPA)), Tribal Governments (Federally recognized Native American Tribes or those recognized by the Native American Heritage Commission as a California Native American tribe), Projects creating, expanding, or improving public open space, Projects improving water quality supply or creating reliable water supply, Projects restoring important species and habitat, Projects improving access to open space and low impact recreation, Projects improving habitat quality, quantity, and connectivity, Projects connecting open space with a network of trails, Projects promoting stewardship of the landscape with long-term maintenance (not less than 20 years), Projects encouraging sustainable growth balancing environmental, social, and economic benefits, Projects maintaining and improving flood protection through natural/non-structural systems, Projects establishing riverfront greenways, Projects optimizing water resources by improving surface/ground water quality and enhancing groundwater recharge, Projects coordinating watershed planning across jurisdictions, Projects encouraging multi-jurisdictional and multi-beneficial planning, Projects involving the public through education and outreach programs, Projects utilizing the best available science, Preference for projects employing new or innovative technology or practices, Preference for applicants who secure matching funding (not required)
