What Is This Program?

This program funds a variety of activities that support prevention, investigation and services for missing and exploited children and families, and professionals who work to prevent, recover and assist missing and exploited children, including victims of online and/or commercial sexual exploitation.

Funding is provided through discretionary and formula grants, cooperative agreements, and payment programs to support state and community efforts. This includes developing effective prevention and intervention programs, improving juvenile justice systems, and protecting children from violence and abuse, with a specific focus on missing and exploited children programs. For FY 2024, $86.2 Million was awarded for Missing and Exploited Children programs overall.

Region: States, US territories, units of local government, Tribal jurisdictions

Demographics: Tribal organizations

Other Criteria: State agencies designated by the governor (for formula grants), Private agencies, Organizations administering juvenile justice and child protection programs, Required to collect and report performance data, Programs must align with legislative requirements (JJDP Act)
