What Is This Program?
What Benefits Are Offered?
Grant funding to public or nonprofit entities to provide civil legal services to eligible Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Services include housing law, family law, income support, criminal defense (in matters symptomatic of homelessness), requests for discharge character upgrades, protective orders (domestic/intimate partner violence), access to health care, and employment law.
Who Is Eligible?
Demographics: women Veterans focus
Other Criteria: public or nonprofit private entities, capacity to effectively administer the grant, serve eligible Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, proposing to directly provide four or more allowable legal services (for prioritization), organizations equitably distributed across geographic regions, including areas not being served by existing awards, or rural communities (for prioritization), demonstrated focus on providing legal services to women Veterans (for prioritization), grantees expected to use at least 10% of grant funds to provide legal services to women Veterans
