What Is This Program?

The INCLUDE Project launched in June 2018 in support of a Congressional directive in the Fiscal Year 2018 Omnibus Appropriations that called for a new NIH-wide research initiative on critical health and quality-of-life needs for individuals with Down syndrome. This assistance listing supports research activities including, but not limited to, basic science, cohort development, and clinical trial research; development of shared research resources and infrastructure; data harmonization and analysis; career development and training; and community-engaged research approaches. Projects funded under this listing contribute to a comprehensive research portfolio addressing conditions that affect individuals with Down syndrome and the general population, such as Alzheimerโ€™s disease/dementia, autism, cataracts, celiac disease, congenital heart disease and diabetes.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Additionally, researchers engaged in NIH mission-relevant research (which would include INCLUDE-related work) may be eligible for NIH Loan Repayment Programs, which repay up to $50,000 annually of qualified educational debt.
