The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Acts authorized funds to be available for collaboration and collaboration-based activities, including facilitation, certification of collaboratives, and planning and implementing projects under the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program established under section 4003 of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (16 U.S.C. 7303) and reauthorized in the 2018 Farm Bill.

What Is This Program?

The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program was established in the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009 and reauthorized in the 2018 Farm Bil to encourage collaborative, science-based ecosystem restoration of priority landscapes by leveraging local resources with national and private sectors. Other activities authorized under the CFLRP program include encouragement of ecological, economic, and social sustainability; facilitate the reduction of wildfire management costs; and encourage utilization of forest restoration by-products to not only offset the treatment costs but for the benefit of rural economies. Funding may also support collaboration and collaboration-based activities outside of CFLRP.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Provides non-repayable funding and guidance for collaborative, landscape-scale forest health restoration projects. Projects receive funding for 10 years, with a possibility of extension, to cover up to 50% of implementation and monitoring costs on National Forest System lands.

Other Criteria: Proposals must be developed collaboratively by Forest Service employees and their community partners., Projects must have clear landscape restoration objectives., Projects must have completed planning in the proposed project areas on Forest Service managed land., Projects must implement a landscape-scale restoration strategy that includes at least 50,000 acres., Projects must align with the criteria in the authorizing legislation.
