This helps reduce wildfire threats, supports local forest product facilities, and bolsters rural economies.

Industries: forest products industry, logging, trucking, lumber production, wood chips production, paper production, biomass energy production
Region: Projects on national forests and grasslands in specified regions, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming
Demographics: woman-owned businesses, Indigenous tribal organizations or partnerships, businesses serving underserved communities, businesses operating in economically disadvantaged areas
Other Criteria: projects that remove hazardous fuels from national forests and grasslands, projects that move woody materials to facilities for various wood products and services, project must be in a very high or high wildfire hazard potential area or other priority area identified in state forest action plans, applicants must demonstrate a clear justification why removal and transportation of forest products would be infeasible without the incentive (e.g., mill closures resulting in longer hauls or hauling costs exceeding product value), matching funds required
