What Is This Program?

The Ocean and Coastal Mapping Integration Act directs action to facilitate the adaptation of existing technologies as well as foster expertise in new ocean and coastal mapping technologies, including through research, development, and training conducted among Federal agencies and in cooperation with non-governmental entities. The purpose of this listing is to describe funding opportunities for research, development, and graduate education and training in hydrographic and ocean mapping sciences, including related oceanographic, cartographic, geophysical, and geodetic science and technology, and to facilitate the adaption of hydrographic and related technology into operations.

Opportunity for external entities to contribute hydrographic data (e.g., bathymetry, shoreline positions, features) to NOAA's National Bathymetric Source program. Contributed data is assessed, integrated, and used to enhance NOAA's navigation products, services, and data-driven models, supporting ocean commerce, safety, and coastal environments by improving nautical charts and marine models.

Region: Entities with data collected within the United States Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)

Other Criteria: Other NOAA line offices, other federal agencies, universities, state/regional initiatives, private sector, port authorities, and beyond, Possession of coastal, ocean, or Great Lakes bathymetry data or other hydrographic data (e.g., shoreline positions, locations of features), Data collected using various systems such as multibeam, single/vertical beam, lidar, or satellite derived, Data must meet minimum metadata requirements
