The objective of this program is to promote and strengthen the ability of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to carry out higher education programs in the food and agricultural sciences. These programs aim to attract outstanding students and produce graduates capable of enhancing the Nation's food and agricultural scientific and professional work force. What Benefits Are Offered?

Provides competitive grants to Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Hispanic-Serving Agricultural Colleges and Universities (HSACUs) to strengthen their higher education programs. Aims to attract, retain, and graduate students in food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences workforce development, and facilitate collaborations.

Who Is Eligible?

Industries: higher education, agriculture, natural resources, food sciences, human sciences

Other Criteria: Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) as defined in 20 U.S.C. 1101a(a)(2), Minimum 25 percent undergraduate full-time Hispanic enrollment (20 U.S.C. 1101a (a (5))), Hispanic-Serving Agricultural College and University (HSACU) status (optional, but makes them eligible for additional NIFA competitive grants), For HSACUs: Must have an accredited agriculture-related program, For HSACUs: At least 15 percent of degrees awarded in agriculture over the two most recent completed academic years, Must be a higher education institution
