The Department of Transportation supports local and rural road agencies across the U.S. by providing training, technical assistance, and technology transfer services to help them manage and maintain their roadway systems. Across the country, there are 51 LTAP centers serving every state, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. LTAP centers enable local counties, parishes, townships, cities, and towns to improve their roads and bridges by supplying them with a variety of low- to no-cost trainin

Provides training, technical assistance, technology transfer services, and a platform for innovation sharing to local, rural, and tribal transportation agencies and professionals to help them manage, maintain, and improve their roadway systems. This includes access to low- to no-cost resources and training to understand and apply for federal transportation funding opportunities like those under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). It also offers national recognition for innovative solutions in transportation through the Build a Better Mousetrap program and facilitates technology development and sharing.

Demographics: federally recognized Tribes

Other Criteria: local government agencies (e.g., local and rural road agencies), Tribal government agencies, Federal Land Management Agencies, transportation professionals within these agencies
