NOAA’s RESTORE Science Program supports long-term research, observation, and monitoring to sustain Gulf of America ecosystems, fisheries, and fishing industries by funding collaborative, co-produced science projects that inform natural resource management decisions. The program is funded through non-appropriated Deepwater Horizon settlement funds under the RESTORE Act of 2012.

Other Criteria: Institutions of higher education, Non-profit institutions, Local, state, and tribal governments, For-profit organizations, US territories and federal agencies with statutory authority to accept funding, Federal agency applicants require a co-investigator from a non-NOAA entity (preferably non-federal), Investigators from non-Gulf based entities are strongly encouraged to collaborate with Gulf-based partners, Projects can involve work in the broader Gulf (e.g., Mexico) but must be led by a US-based entity, Applicants must form a team of researchers, resource managers, and other interested parties, Projects must address specific regional science and management needs, focusing on Gulf natural resources and related factors
