The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) is a nutrition assistance program that may be operated at the request of a Tribe or Indian Tribal Organization (ITO) on an Indian reservation, approved areas near a reservation, or approved service areas in Oklahoma. Income-eligible households receive a supplemental monthly food package and nutrition education. What Benefits Are Offered?
Provides USDA Foods (including fruits, vegetables, proteins, legumes, grains, dairy, soups, and traditional foods) to income-eligible households to increase access to healthy foods. Administering agencies also provide nutrition education to recipients.
Who Is Eligible?
Region: Indian reservations, designated areas near reservations, Oklahoma
Demographics: Native American households, American Indian households, Elderly households, disabled households
Other Criteria: Income-eligible households, Must reside on an Indian reservation or in designated areas near a reservation (including Oklahoma), If residing off-reservation but in designated areas/Oklahoma, at least one household member must be part of a federally-recognized tribe, Households must be re-certified at least every 12 months
