What Is This Program?

Grants are made to States and Puerto Rico to capitalize their Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (DWSRFs) which provide a low-cost, long-term source of financing for the costs of drinking water infrastructure. Grants are also made to the District of Columbia, U.S. Territories (Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and Guam), and Indian Tribes.

Provides billions in annual federal funding through states, Tribes, and territories to improve drinking water infrastructure. Funding supports rehabilitation of drinking water sources, installation/upgrade of treatment/storage facilities, and replacement of transmission/distribution pipes. It also covers project feasibility studies, engineering design, and administration. For FY 2025, $8.9 billion was announced for CWSRF and DWSRF combined.
