What Is This Program?

Provide resources to local agencies to develop or improve public boat launching facilities, primarily for motorized vessels. In accordance with Section 72.5 of the Harbors and Navigation Code, Boat Launching Facility (BLF) grants are provided to local government agencies for the construction or improvement of boat launching ramps, restrooms, boarding floats, shore protection, parking for vehicles and boat trailers, and ancillary items. Also included in the grant are monies to pay for engineering, construction inspection, permits from regulatory agencies, special studies, construction contingency, and other project related costs. The primary purpose of the grant is to provide and improve access to California’s waterways by the recreational boating public using trailerable watercraft.
