What Is This Program?

The DERA National Grant Program provides funding to state, local and private partners to reduce the pollution emitted from diesel engines across the country through the implementation of cleaner engines, vehicles, equipment and retrofit technologies.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Funding assistance to accelerate the upgrade, retrofit, and turnover of the legacy diesel fleet, achieving significant reductions in diesel emissions. Projects include retrofit or replacement of existing diesel engines, vehicles, and equipment with EPA/CARB certified configurations and technologies. The 2022-2023 NOFO anticipated awarding approximately $115 million in total.

Who Is Eligible?

Region: United States, District of Columbia, Tribal lands, Alaska Native Villages

Other Criteria: Regional, state, or local agency (including DC), Tribal government (or intertribal consortium) or Alaska Native Village, Port authority, School districts, municipalities, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), cities, and counties with jurisdiction over transportation or air quality, Nonprofit organization or institution that represents or provides pollution reduction/educational services to persons or organizations owning/operating diesel fleets, Nonprofit organization or institution with principal purpose of promoting transportation or air quality
