Victim Assistance formula grants provide funding to States and eligible territories to improve the treatment of victims of crime by providing victims with the assistance, support, and services necessary to aid their restoration and healing after a criminal act. States provide subawards to local community-based organizations and public agencies that provide services directly to crime victims, for example crisis counseling, telephone and onsite information and referrals, criminal justice support and advocacy, shelter, therapy, and additional assistance.
