Funds are awarded to American Samoa, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia to support construction of municipal wastewater treatment works which are required to meet local and/or federal water quality standards and improve the water quality in the waters of the United States. What Benefits Are Offered?

Grants for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects to improve compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Clean Water Act (CWA), provide safe drinking water, and protect the environment.

Who Is Eligible?

Industries: water utilities, wastewater treatment, public infrastructure

Region: U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, District of Columbia

Demographics: Indian tribe, authorized tribal organization

Other Criteria: public body created under jurisdiction law, has jurisdiction for treatment, transport, or disposal of domestic wastewater in a particular geographic area, designated and approved management agency authorized in a Water Quality Management (WQM) plan, project fits Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 201(g) categories (secondary treatment, more stringent treatment, new interceptors, infiltration/inflow correction)
