The Community Forest Program (CFP) is a competitive grant program that provides financial assistance to tribal entities, local governments, and qualified conservation non-profit organizations to acquire and establish community forests that provide community benefits. Financial assistance to acquire and conserve forests, which provide public access, recreational opportunities, protect vital water supplies and wildlife habitat, serve as demonstration sites for private forest landowners, and offer economic benefits from timber and non-timber products. The program pays up to 50% of the project costs.

Region: United States
Other Criteria: local governments, tribal governments, qualified nonprofit entities, seeking to acquire and conserve forest land, Full fee title acquisition is required, Public access is required for projects, Lands acquired must be actively managed in accordance with a community forest plan to provide community benefits
