What Is This Program?
What Benefits Are Offered?
The CDFI Program provides competitive Financial Assistance and Technical Assistance awards to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). Financial Assistance awards include loans, grants, equity investments, deposits, and credit union shares, requiring a dollar-for-dollar match with non-federal funds. Technical Assistance awards are grants designed to build organizational capacity. The program also offers supplemental awards for specific initiatives such as Healthy Food Financing and Housing Production-Financial Assistance to drive community revitalization, organizational sustainability, and expand access to affordable financial products and services.
Who Is Eligible?
Region: United States, District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico
Other Criteria: Must be a Certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) for Financial Assistance awards., Certified and Emerging CDFIs are eligible for Technical Assistance awards., Emerging CDFIs must demonstrate the ability to become a Certified CDFI within three years of receiving a Technical Assistance grant., To be a Certified CDFI: Must be a legal entity, have a primary mission of promoting community development, be a financing entity, primarily serve one or more target markets, provide development services in conjunction with financing activities, maintain accountability to its target market, and be a non-government entity (Tribal governments excluded)., For Healthy Food Financing Initiative: Must be a CDFI interested in expanding healthy food financing activities., For Housing Production-Financial Assistance: Must be interested in financing the production of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families.
