Provides funding and mentored career development support to outstanding postdoctoral researchers in all areas of cancer research, facilitating their transition to independent, tenure-track faculty positions at US-based institutions. The K99 phase offers salary and research development support, while the R00 phase provides independent research funding.

Region: US-based institutions
Other Criteria: Outstanding postdoctoral researchers, No more than 6 years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of application, Must commit a minimum of 9 calendar months (75%) full-time professional effort, For R00 phase, must have accepted a tenure-track full-time assistant professor position (or equivalent), Research project must be distinct from mentor's pending or active research grants, Must not have achieved independence (faculty or non-mentored research position) before a K99 Award is made, Open to US citizens, non-citizen nationals, permanent residents, and non-U.S. citizens with valid U.S. visas (visa status must allow for proposed research duration), Eligibility extension for childbirth available (automatic 1 year for women giving birth, others can apply)
