Assisting Specialty Crop Exports

Department Of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service

ASCE addresses barriers unique to specialty crops exports. It supports projects that advance U.S. specialty crop exports by expanding domestic understanding of foreign food safety systems and foreign understanding of U.S. food safety systems. The initiative will also collect information needed for export certification, and packaging to meet other countries' new requirements.

What Is This Program?

ASCE is different from USDAโ€™s traditional export market development programs in that, rather than beginning with a general call for grant applications, individual projects begin with an identification of a trade barrier from industry stakeholders, which can be addressed via targeted projects implemented by third parties (i.e. not the industry).

What Benefits Are Offered?

grantcontractcooperative agreementadvisorynetworking

Funding and partnership opportunities to address non-tariff trade barriers for U.S. specialty crop exports, including projects focused on packaging innovation, navigating foreign standards and maximum residue limits (MRLs), and exporter training. Benefits include opening new international markets, solidifying existing ones, and helping producers better understand export regulations and requirements. Specific projects may offer collaboration opportunities, industry insights, and legal reviews.
