What Benefits Are Offered?
This is a State-funded reimbursement grant to support small and medium-sized businesses with On-the-Job Training. It provides a wage subsidy for employees undergoing skills upgrading and retraining, reimbursing up to 50% of approved training costs and 50% of employee wages during training.
Who Is Eligible?
Business Size: small, medium
Industries: all industries
Region: Allegany County, Cattaraugus County, Chautauqua County, Erie County, Genesee County, Niagara County, Orleans County, Wyoming County
Other Criteria: For-profit or not-for-profit businesses are eligible, Must have 2 or more employees, Must have been in business for more than 1 year, Do NOT need to be an Amherst Chamber of Commerce member, Business must be able to pay for training and wages upfront, Business must continue to provide employment upon completion of training, Employee eligibility for training reimbursement: must be at least 18 years old, work full-time (32+ hours/week), be a direct employee (not 1099), be mid-tier level or make more than $18/hour, meet Federal and State minimum wage standards, and earn less than $91,556/year ($44.02/hour), Training program plan must be approved by the Amherst Chamber before training begins, Applicants are strongly encouraged, and in some instances required, to utilize NYS-certified MWBE and SDVOB entities for training services, instructional materials, or other contractual obligations funded by this grant.
