The NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) drives technology innovation for industry by developing and making available neutron-based measurements of materials. These measurements provide detailed information about the structure and dynamics of materials that is challenging or even impossible to obtain using other methods. Neutron measurements have been used to advance a wide variety of important technologies including biopharmaceutical manufacturing, personal care products, advanced plastics and composites, batteries, oil recovery and transportation, chemical production and separation, advanced data storage, quantum sensors, microelectronics, and advanced engineering materials such as those produced through additive manufacturing. As a National User Facility, the NCNR provides access to measurements for the public through various access mechanisms. Activities supported would include the building of, testing of, and access to automated and autonomous neutron scattering methods that transform our ability to support US technology development, especially in critical emerging technologies.
